Fernwood Resort family campground:
Description: This AAA approved 14 acre resort has a motel, restaurant, a general store, on outdoor and camp goods store with espresso bar, "Coast Ridge Outfitters", a tavern that sometimes features live music and a 60 unit campground that is located in the majestic redwood forest offering several levels of campsites featuring tent cabins on the banks of the Big Sur River, tent campsites and large RV camping spaces with electric and water hook-ups, each accommodation comes picnic table and campfire container. The resort offers a range of camping support facilities in addition to the stores, restrooms with hot showers, horseshoe pits and a volleyball court, wireless internet is also available on most of the property. Tent cabins start at $60 per night, tent campsites at $35 per night and RV sites $40.
Location: In the Big Sur Valley on the west side of Pacific Coast Highway One, turnoff is just south of the Ripplewood Resort and just north of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park , 150 miles South of San Francisco and 300 miles North of Los Angeles 36.260862,-121.793362
Directions: On Pacific Coast Highway One 25 miles south of Carmel, 74 miles north of Cambria California, turnout on the west side of the highway just south of the Ripplewood Resort and just north of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park.

Camping Facilities: There are comfortable tent cabins that sleep 4 people on the banks of the Big Sur River each with a picnic table and campfire container, there are mattresses but you supply sleeping bags or linens and blankets, drinking water spigots are nearby; there is room for large RVs in the RV sites that have electric and water hookups with picnic tables and fire containers, (there is no dump station); tent campsites come with a picnic table and fire container, there are two shared restrooms with showers one is pay one is free; WiFi is available to most of the resort. Tent cabins start at $60 per night, tent campsites at $35 per night and RV sites $40.

Activities: Adults as well children enjoy wading and splashing about or inner tubing in the shallow Big Sur River and there are deeper swimming holes year-round too; Fernwood Resort also has horseshoe pits and a volleyball court. Fernwood borders Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, it is a short hike from Fernwood into the park to enjoy its felicities like the famous trails such as the Pfeiffer Falls trail. The Fernwood Resort is an all inclusive resort that has a restaurant, espresso bar and pub that sometimes has live music.

Close by Points of Interest: The resort borders the wonderful Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park and is located in the central Big Sur Valley so there are numerous general stores, gas stations, motels, restaurants, shops and a bar located nearby in addition to those at the resort. Beaches and hiking are only short distances north or south along the Pacific Coast Highway 1. Also just south a few miles is the Henry Miller Memorial Library; a bookstore, art gallery, gift shop and location for many local events http://henrymiller.org/.
Pets & Misc. Regulations:
Pets are allowed in the campground but must be on a leash and attended. Gathering firewood is not allowed.
Helpful Hints: Gathering firewood is not allowed you should bring your own fire wood or firewood is available for purchase at the general store.
