Big Sur Center Photo Information: If you ask people who are “in the know” where is Big Sur they will most likely tell you Big Sur is on the California coast and runs 100 miles or so from Carmel down to San Simeon, but if you are wondering there is a town of Big Sur too. Big Sur has it’s own zip code and a post office of it’s own too. So Big Sur is an “Big Area” on California’s Central coast and it runs inland into wilderness too, and I believe that “Big Sur” is not just terra firma real estate but Big Sur is a “spirit” a free spirit. Any for some mystical reason the area Big Sur been a magnate for unique people. But to wander back to the pages purpose the photo featured on this page is the signage in front of the Big Sur Center, this location is “Big Sur”; here is the U.S. Post Office, a deli and more and another cluster of business Loma Vista (The Big Sur Bakery) which is just up the hill and like part of this mega-metropolis Big Sur. Also the landscape begins to change a little here, the Pacific Coast Highway has turned inland a little heading up the Big Sur Valley an into the beautiful redwood forested area.

The Pacific Coast Highway 1 has now headed inland taking you through the Redwood Forests up the Big Sur River Valley you will be coming upon a number of clusters of little business areas all within a few miles of each other. They are all wonderful in their own ways and vary slightly but the one thing they have in common is they are there for you and have been for many years to do their best to serve the Pacific Coast Highway traveler and they generally do that well. Each is like a mini-resort or private campground offering a smorgasbord of traveler/vacationer facilities and services. If you stop and where you stop and what you do can depend on many things. What time of year it is, what are your needs and desires and what your budget i$.
