The beautiful old vintage historic Sebastian's General Store (1852) in San Simeon is now reopened again under new management and name calling themselves Sebastian's General Store and Café and you can enjoy a wonderful lunch featuring free range Hearst beef and including wine and beer; even if you are not hungry it is a must stop even if it is just to browse their eclectic collection of antiques some of which are for sale; and you should go to eat lunch, the food is scrumptious! Sebastian's Cafe now features delicious entrees prepared with pasture raised 100% grass fed beef from the Hearst Ranch serving up a great lunch with beer, local wines and espressos; the newest amenity of San Simeon’s Sebastian’s General Store and Café is the addition of a wine tasting bar for Hearst Ranch Wines (805-927-4100) Hearst Ranch Wines; the new wine tasting fits in the old historic building like a glove, the bar is beautiful constructed from old west style from barn wood and the bar top is bright polished solid copper.

BEST BIG SUR STOP!!
The ocean view resort called the Ragged Point Inn is the very best place to stop along the Scenic Big Sur Pacific Coast Highway 1. Yes it is the finest place to get something good and reasonably priced to eat or an excellent espresso coffee drink but beyond that the best views on the Big Sur California Pacific Coast are FREE!

Drinks and snacks can also be purchased at the mini-mart as well as the Wine/Beer & Espresso bar both of which like the Hotdog Stand are on the parameters of Ragged Point's "Picnic Table Plaza". The resort is 15 scenic miles north of Hearst Castle on Pacific Coast Highway 1. The Ragged Point Inn and Resort is the perfect get out of your car and enjoy the Big Sur Coasts only good ol’ American fast food; the Ragged Point Snack Bar serves up a full selection of made to order burgers, cold sandwiches, hotdogs, with perfect compliments like hot fries, and milkshakes. There is a more extensive menu than your average fast food joint which included fresh salads, homemade soups and chili, fried chicken, fish and chips and also available are some delicious quick breakfast items. Whale Watcher Cafe can't be missed, right on the Pacific Coast Highway 1 offering California Style cuisine breakfast lunch and dinner 7 days a week for over 60 years. The Restaurant at the Lucia Lodge Resort is right on the Pacific Coast Highway 1 adjoined to their general store is the historic ocean view restaurant that features famous fish and chips; it is open for lunch and dinner throughout the year and during the tourist season breakfast is also offered. Lucia Lodge restaurant offers a spectacular Big Sur Coast Pacific Ocean view deck enjoyable outdoor dining, as well as a charming, comfortable and historic ocean viewdining room. I stop at the Lucia Lodge almost every time I travel the Big Sur Pacific Coast Highway; the Lodge is half way between Cambria and Carmel right on the highway; for me it's a nice place to stretch legs, grab a cup of coffee from the lodges convenience store and use the handicapped accessible restrooms.

Café Kevah is located on an outdoor ocean view terrace below Nepenthe; open March through the first week of January weather permitting Café Kevah offers casual outside only dining with good food carefully prepared from fresh ingredients, home made bakery goods and gourmet espresso coffee drinks served from a open-air counter.
